Gahanna’s Creekside Project Incorporates Natural Waterway into Life of the Neighborhood.
Creekside project creates community focal point and charming mixed use neighborhoods.
The City of Gahanna has re-established a connection to Big Walnut Creek on which the original Village was founded. It the mid 19th century, an old grain mill was responsible for the villages early economic success. Today a revitalized main street and creekside redevelopment project contribute to a diverse ecconomy. The project which cleaned up Big Walnut Creek not only added many beautiful public spaces, but has also attracted revitalization projects, some completed and more underway.
Creekside Park featuring a waterfall with with large limestone boulders boulders that provides natural seating, and creekwalk that runs from the northern tip of Creekside Island to the south side of old Gahanna. The project adhears to the philosophy of connectivity between Creekside Park and Old Gahanna
Retail, restaurants, condos and office space, are all part of the redevelopment, revitalizing the area while maintaining historic charm and combining economic opportunity and a real sense of community.
