New Albany’s Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts Opens in February

Center for the Arts hopes to inspire local students

Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts professional presentations, to begin in March, will be educational, entertaining and enriching for and adults alike.

Participants in community-wide focus groups convened earlier this year to recommend a wide variety of authors, speakers, sports role models, musicians and dance and theater groups for the center’s programming committee to consider.

A series of public performances featuring a broad spectrum of artists and speakers will be presented throughout the year and the center hopes to provide an opportunity for local, national and internationally recognized professionals to interact with local students. Students in New Albany will have access to lectures, classes, demonstrations and dialogue with master teachers. The center intends to works with local schools in an effort to enhance academic curricula by supporting learning beyond classroom walls.

Jeanne B. McCoy Community Center for the Arts mission statement pledges to "inspire and enrich the lives of the residents of New Albany and surrounding communities in central Ohio and to foster an appreciation o the arts and culture by providing lifelong learning opportunities through education, exposure and participation."
