Alum Creek State Park a Hub for Recreational Activity
A myriad of activities just minutes from Columbus
Located north of Columbus, Alum Creek State Park offers a large reservoir with over 3300 acres of water. There are a diverse array of natural features like cliffs of Ohio Shale cut from the bedrock by Alum Creek and other streams, and beech-maple forests which harbor many species of plants and wildlife.
Alum Creek State Park is a great environment for many recreational activities, like camping with 286 campsites with electric hook up, some overlooking the lake. There are camper cabins that range from rustic to refined.
The park is loaded with trails along the lake shore, through beech-maple forest and deep ravines, 9.5 miles of hiking trails, 38 miles if bridal trails, 2 mountain bike trails totaling 14.5 miles for both novice and experienced riders.
The 3387 acres of water are a paradise for boaters and fishermen alike. Quiet coves harbor catches of bass, bluegill, crappie, walleye, and saugeye. The 3000 ft beach is the largest inland beach in Ohio.
There is plenty do here even in the winter. Sledding, ice skating, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ice fishing and ice boating will keep you busy.
