Central Ohio Real Estate: The City of Whitehall
What a great city. Whitehall is located just 10 miles east of downtown Columbus and within easy driving distance of New Albany, this town is located in a prime location.
The area was originally settled in 1805 but became the Village of Whithall in as recent as 1947. The City is recognised that its Town & Country Shopping Center was the first regional shopping center in the USA. The areas growth was like many areas caused by the shift of living patterns after the second world war when soldiers returned from service and a spurt of suburbanisation occured. Between 1950 and 1960 the population grew from just over 4000 to over 20,000 residents!
The City has all Columbus has to offer - including the Ohio State university all within easy reach as well as some of the largest employers in the area - Abercrombie and Fitch in New Albany for instance.
Despite the growth the Whitehall Ohio school district has not seen a huge explosion of numbers and as such the school system remains intimate but has one of the most successful English as a Second Language programs in the region.
