Central Ohio Real Estate: The City of Granville

Courtesy of the Raines Group Website and Bill HollowaySitting high on a hill, The City of Granville has a distinct New England feel about it! The properties are a mix between old a new, which is the same to say of its residents as the city features the 175 year old Denison University.

The city has a proper down town with quaint buildings and gorgeous churches which gives rise to a large number of activists wanting to preserve the beauty of the buildings and maintain them. The city also features two large manors, surrounding farms and an active arts community.

The reason for the New England influence is that when it was first settled in 1805 a large number of families from Massachusetts and Connecticut came to the rich farmlands of the Central Ohio plains. The town was carefully planned when the Licking Company built mills along the Licking river. New residents already had a community planned carefully for them - all it needed was building! The town has a hundred buildings on the national list of historic places

The town is proud of its New England heritage and has an excellent education system which caters for a wide range of ages up to college level at Denison University.

With a thriving community and an excellent education system the are is highly sought after. If you are looking for a property in the Granville area then please contact Sandy Raines at the Raines Group who will be glad to assist in your real estate search.
