More and more people are demanding larger homes with bigger yards than ever in the Columbus area prompting planners to continue the expansion of the surrounding suburbs and communities. Despite rising transportation costs for everybody through the dramatic increase in gas prices it appears that people are still willing to travel that extra few minutes to get that perfect home that they want.
Regional planners expect the region to increase its population by 500,000 by 2030. However the increase in gas costs has lead to some community planners looking at walkable neighborhoods and better planned towns. The thought is that residents could be able to do grocery shopping and work closer to home without the need to drive.
