Registration for Safety Town in New Albany Starts April 13th
Safety Town is a summer program for children who will be entering kindergarten or first grade and the subject of the program is, you guessed it, safety. A variety of issues will be covered and taught by state-certified elementary school teachers and a new subject will be discussed daily. Topics include, but are not limited to, stranger awareness, bicycle safety, animal safety, water safety, fire safety and pedestrian safety. The New Albany program, Safety Town, informs children of important safety issues in a fun and nurturing environment. The program has been operating since 2004 and it popularity has grown every year. The sessions are two week sessions and take place at the New Albany-Plain Local K-1 school building at 5101 Swickard Woods Boulevard. The first session will be held from June 15-25 and the second session will be from July 6-16. Morning or afternoon classes are the option for each session. Morning classes will be held from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m, and afternoon classes will be held from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. For more information visit the Safety Town web site at VillageOfNewAlbany.org or contact the Police Department at 614-855-1234.
