Central Ohio Real Estate: Spec Homes on the Rise

More builders are building spec homes in the Columbus area these days, realizing that more people are out looking for Central Ohio real estate and wanting to be prepared for potential buyers.  Builders are feeling certain that the first time home buyer tax credit will have people wanting to purchase a new home before the December 1st deadline and are building spec homes in the Columbus area to fulfill this premise.  If someone wants to take advantage of the first time home buyer tax credit, worth up to $8,000, then they have to close by December 1, 2009.  A half-built home will not do the trick.  A recent article in the Columbus Dispatch notes that “Builders say they are encouraged by the number of shoppers and want to be sure to have something to sell when buyers come knocking.”  Central Ohio real estate appears to be on the move and everyone wants to take advantage of moving some real estate if they can.
