Short North Arts District Holiday Hop

When: Saturday December 6th [4pm-10pm]

Where: Short North Arts District [North High Street from Goodale Blvd to Fifth Avenue]

Admission: Free!

What: Celebrate the Holidays on the first Saturday of December at Holiday Hop along with thousands of visitors who converge on the strip – the epicenter of the High Street Experience. They come to celebrate art and partake in an evening of sights, sounds, food, shopping and cosmopolitan holiday fun. Though many shops are open earlier, the Gallery Hop officially starts at 4 p.m. and runs to 10 p.m. with restaurants and bars staying open considerably later

Christmas Festival Concert

When:  Sunday December 7th [3pm-5pm]

Where: Coshocton High School [1205 Cambridge Road, Coshocton, Ohio, 43812]

Admission: $10

What: Over 200 singers and musicians from Central Ohio participate in this annual Christmas concert.

Winterfair

When:  December 5th – December 7th  [Friday-Saturday 10am-8pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm]

Where: Ohio Expo Center [717 E 17th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211]

Admission: $7, Children under 12 free

What: A holiday artists market where fairgoers will find unique and beautiful handcrafted articles for the home, office, or gift giving.

A Tasting Tour of German Village

When: Saturday December 13th [1pm-4pm]

Where: German Village Meeting Haus [588 S Third Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

Admission: $45

What: This tour of German Village is special because you’ll see and taste what makes this charming district in Columbus so unique. You’ll experience German Village’s charming old world architecture and feel the influence of its German heritage. You’ll pop in and out of novel shops and peek into jewel-like backyard gardens. The focal point of the tour is sampling authentic German Village restaurants. Here’s a sampling of tasting highlights: sampling the best of Katzinger’s deli sandwiches; seeing the original Max and Erma’s restaurant, its stained glass and tasting its signature tortilla soup; enjoying Schmidt’s Sausage Haus’ famous sausages and cream puffs and a stop at an authentic German bakery. Walking distance is less than 10,000 steps. You’ll find it hard to believe that so many sights and tastes are packed in this small area. Wear comfy shoes and prepare to enjoy!

The Nutcracker

When: December 12th – December 17th [Tuesday/Thursday 730pm-930pm, Friday 2pm-4pm, Saturday/Sunday 1pm-3pm]

Where: Ohio Theatre [55 E State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: Indulge in the spirit of the holiday season with the magic and adventure of BalletMet’s The Nutcracker. You will journey with Clara and her Nutcracker Prince to a fantasy world of the imagination. Overflowing with unforgettable characters, exquisite scenery and costumes, delightful dancing and Tchaikovsky’s beloved score played live by the Columbus Symphony.

First Night Columbus 2014

When: Wednesday December 31st [5pm-Midnight]

Where: Downtown Columbus

Admission: $10

What: First Night Columbus, Central Ohio’s award-winning New Year’s Eve celebration is a community-oriented, family-friendly, alcohol-free event. There is something for everyone with more than 40 live performances including jazz, funk, ragtime, storytelling and magic, hands-on activities and a children’s festival.
