Upcoming Community Events – July 2015

It is summertime in Central Ohio therefore it is time to embrace the sunshine and the warm weather with an abundance of activities. Here are some events going on in your area this month.

Red, White, and Boom!

When: Friday, July 3rd (Noon-11PM; fireworks begin at 10PM)

Where: Downtown riverfront and the Arena District

What: The biggest and best Independence Day fireworks celebration in the Midwest will be fired from its location along the downtown riverfront in Columbus, displaying a vibrant look with an exciting environment. Enjoy great food, music and fireworks at Red, White and Boom!

Picnic with the Pops: Patriotic Pops and Fireworks!

When: Saturday, July 4th (8PM)

Where: 160 S. High Street, Columbus, OH 43215

Admission: $30

What: Columbus’ grand summer tradition continues as the Columbus Symphony celebrates the Fourth of July. Featuring the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus and conductor Albert-George Schram. Wave the flag, clap your hands, and stomp your feet to patriotic favorites and rousing Sousa marches, including “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and other favorites. The evening is topped off with a brilliant fireworks display.

Cirque du Soleil: Kooza

When: June 4 – July 5 (Tuesdays-Thursdays 8:00PM, Fridays-Saturdays 4:30 & 8:00PM., Sunday 1:00 & 5:00PM)

Where: Under the blue and yellow Big Top (115 W. Mound Street, Columbus, OH 43223)

What: Cirque du Soleil will return to Columbus with KOOZA, a big-top show. Columbus will be the first U.S. stop after the European tour of KOOZA, set in a zany kingdom and billed as a return to the roots of the troupe with a blend of clowning and acrobatics. After premiering in 2007 in Montreal, Canada, KOOZA has been seen by more than 4 million people in 43 cities and 12 countries on three continents. The Canadian art circus, known for its acrobatics and spectacle, will present 50 performers

Moonlight Market on Gay Street

When: Saturday, July 11th (6PM-11PM)

Where: Downtown, Gay Street

What: The Moonlight Market on Gay Street Downtown happens every Second Saturday, April through October from 6pm to 11pm! Featuring special late hours and promotions from brick-and-mortar businesses and sidewalks lined with loads of sidewalk vendors, street performers and more!

Ohio Wine Festival Presented by PNC

When: July 10 – July 12

Where: The North Market (59 Spruce Street, Columbus, OH 43215)

What: Enjoy tastes from the best wineries from all over the state of Ohio. The weekend is complete with entertainment, cooking demonstrations, contests and of course the fabulous offerings from the merchants of North Market.

Jazz and Rib Fest

When: Friday, July 17th- Sunday, July 19th (Friday-Saturday 11AM-11PM and Sunday 11AM-8:30PM)

What: The 36th annual festival offers a diverse lineup of artists guaranteed to satisfy the cravings of any jazz connoisseur, while barbeque pit masters serve up sizzling ribs.

What: Experience a Columbus Crew SC game and see why Columbus has become internationally recognized as a soccer haven in the United States.

Upper Arlington Music in the Parks

When: Thursday, July 23rd (7PM-8:30PM)

Where: 4395 Carriage Hill Lane, Upper Arlington, OH 43221

Admission: Free

What: The Cultural Arts Division invites you to enjoy our free summer concert series. . Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and unplug with us In the event of rain, the concert will be moved inside the Amelita Mirolo Barn while concerts at community parks will be canceled.

Columbus Clippers vs. Louisville

When: Monday, July 20th – Tuesday, July 21st

Where: Huntington Park (330 Huntington Park Lane, Columbus, OH 43215)

What: Come cheer on the Columbus Clippers, Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and enjoy breathtaking views of Huntington Park, one of the best ballparks in the U.S.
