Upcoming Community Events – September 2015

Just because summer has come to an end doesn’t mean there aren’t great events here in Central Ohio. Be sure to check out these events so you can make this September one to remember. Here are some events going on in your area this month.

Greek Festival

When: Friday, September 4th –  Monday, September 7th (Friday – Sunday 12PM-12AM, Monday 12PM-7PM)

Where: The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral (555 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43215)

Admission: Adults $5, Seniors $4, Children 12 & Under Free

What: Experience the culture and ancestry of Greece and our Orthodox Christian faith! Come and connect with heritage and traditions that are centuries old, but still contemporary in their focus. Our Cathedral tours will inspire you, the Orthodox Christian Bookstore will educate you, the food and drink will entice you and the hospitality will overwhelm you. Stop by the shops, enjoy the music and dancing, visit the exhibits and enjoy the wonderful Greek pastries.

Ohio Proud Fall Harvest

When: Saturday, September 12th

Where: Easton Town Center (160 Easton Town Center, Columbus, OH 43219)

Admission: Free

What: Ohio Proud companies offer samples and sell everything from salsas and mustards to butter toffee confections and ostrich burgers at the Ohio Proud Fall Harvest Easton.

New Albany Walking Classic

When: Sunday, September 13th

Where: Market Square (220 Market St, New Albany, OH 43054)

Admission: $70 – $100

What: Organized by the New Albany Walking Club, the Walking Classic is the largest walking-only race in the United States drawing walkers of Olympic caliber as well as recreational walkers whose goal is to walk for health and enjoyment. The Walking Classic offers two choices of distances: a half marathon and a 10k. Participants in both distances will start together.

Taylor Swift: The 1989 World Tour

When: Thursday, September 17th & Friday, September 18th

Where: Nationwide Arena (200 W. Nationwide Boulevard, Columbus, OH 43215)

Admission: $39 – $200

What: Seven-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift announced The 1989 World Tour on Good Morning America after performing an epic concert in Times Square to over 20,000 fans, wrapping up promotion of her history making fifth studio album, 1989. The 1989 World Tour includes two nights at Nationwide Arena. Vance Joy will be opening for Taylor Swift.

BIA Parade of Homes

When: Saturday, September 19th – Sunday, October 4th

Where: Northstar Community (1150 Wilson Road, Sunbury, OH 43074)

Admission: $15; Children 12 & Under Free

What: You can tour twelve spectacular new homes that showcase the latest-and-greatest in design, products, decor, technology and landscaping. Whether it’s the paint colors, cabinet options, extras in the owner’s retreat or many more elements both inside and out. The Parade displays a multitude of ideas that are sure to inspire.

The 18th Annual New Albany Classic Invitational Grand Prix & Family Day

When: Sunday, September 20th (10AM-4PM)

Where: Wexner Residence (One Whitebarn Road, New Albany, OH 43054)

Admission: $8 – $23

What: Watch some of North America’s top professional riders compete in an internationally sanctioned show jumping grand prix at the Wexner residence in New Albany. The Classic features a special concert sponsored by Tween Brands Inc. and includes a fun-filled day of regional and national entertainment for families and kids of all ages.

Oktoberfest

When: Friday, September 25th –  Sunday, September 27th

Where: Ohio Expo Center (717 E. 17th Avenue, Columbus, OH 43211)

Admission: Parking $10; Food & Drink Vouchers 10 for $10

What: Bring on the beer and sauerkraut at one of the festival’s outdoor beer gardens. Sit back and enjoy the continuous German-themed entertainment on two pavilion stages.

Downtown Columbus Brewery

When: Saturday, September 26th (2PM-5:30PM)

Where: Columbus Brewing Company Restaurant (525 Short North Street, Columbus, OH 43215)

Admission: $55

What: The microbrew scene is exploding in Columbus! Learn more about how beer is made, taste the different styles produced and served at each destination and discover more about the history of each brewery. You’ll hear the stories behind each business and have a chance to meet a wide range of owners, brewers, and craft beer experts. This tour is designed to be a fun, educational and delicious introduction to Columbus’ growing local beer scene.
