You said goodbye to 2015, now say hello to the New Year with as much fun and entertainment as you can. Whether you’re looking for something to do with a group of friends, or events to bring the whole family along, there are always things to do in Central Ohio. Here are a few events going on near you this month.

Columbus Blue Jackets Vs. Washington Capitals

Winter Jam 2016

When: Saturday, January 9th [7PM]

Where: The Schottenstein Center [555 Borror Drive, Columbus, OH 43210]

Admission: $10

What: Continuing an unprecedented reign as one of the world’s largest tours and Christian music’s biggest annual tour, the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular has announced its highly-anticipated 2016 line-up. Co-headlining next year’s 48-city Winter Jam Tour Spectacular are two fan favorites: GRAMMY Award-winning duo for KING & COUNTRY and GRAMMY nominated singer/songwriter Matthew West. The tour will also feature Crowder, RED, Sidewalk Prophets, NewSong, KB and Tedashii, Lauren Daigle and evangelist Tony Nolan, while the Pre-Jam Party is slated to showcase Stars Go Dim and We Are Messengers. Soaring melodies, driving rhythms, theatrical instrumentation and personal themes are the heartbeat of two-time GRAMMY Award winners for KING & COUNTRY.

2016 Wedding Showcase

Where: Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens [1777 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH]

What: Enjoy an elegant evening at central Ohio’s premier wedding venue. Meet select vendors representing the best of the wedding industry and view the Conservatory’s unique spaces, including a new venue! Broadway in Columbus: The Sound of Music

When: Tuesday, January 26th – 31st

Where: Ohio Theatre [39 E State St, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: The hills are alive! A brand new production of The Sound of Music, directed by Jack O’Brien, is coming to you. The spirited, romantic and beloved musical story of Maria and the Von Trapp Family will once again thrill audiences with its Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning Best Score, including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev?ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss” and the title song.

Comfort Food Cruise

When: January 23rd – February 7th [Saturday-Sunday 8AM-4PM]

Where: Hocking Hills [13178 State Route 664 S, Logan, OH 43138]

Admission: $15

What: Cruise through the Hocking Hills while enjoying classic comfort foods at ten different restaurants. Indulge in homemade biscuits and gravy, mac and cheese, pizza, warm berry cobbler, chicken, breakfast burritos with homemade sausage, spaghetti, steak sliders, meatloaf and ice cream.

Columbus Coffee Tour

When: January 1st – February 20th [Saturday 9:30AM-1PM]

Where: Columbus Aquatic Center [1160 Hunter Avenue, Columbus, OH 43201]

What: You will visit three of the premier coffee venues in Columbus. You will start with a visit to Cafe Brioso downtown where we will discuss espresso drinks and the art of the barista. The second stop will to be Stauf’s roastery to learn about sourcing and roasting coffee. The final stop will be at Luck Bros in Grandview to hear from Andy Luck about how to improve your coffee making at home. As well as plenty of samples of coffee we’ll also be having some snacks along the way. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the art of coffee making and there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Columbus Blue Jackets’ Winter Park

When: January 22nd – February 21st

Where: McFerson Commons [218 West Street, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: An NHL-sized ice rink returns to McFerson Commons Jan. 22 through Feb. 21. At Winter Park, enjoy ice skating for $5, hockey games and more. A heated tent serves food and beverages and houses entertainment, including a replica Blue Jackets locker room. Blue Jackets games will also play on a video board.

Downtown Columbus Brewery Tour

When: January 1st – March 26th [Saturday 11AM-3PM]

Where: Columbus Brewing Company Restaurant [525 Short Street, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: $55

What: The microbrew scene is exploding in Columbus! Learn more about how beer is made, taste the different styles produced and served at each destination and discover more about the history of each brewery. You’ll hear the stories behind each business and have a chance to meet a wide range of owners, brewers and craft beer experts. This tour is designed to be a fun, educational and delicious introduction to Columbus’ growing local beer scene.
