Central Ohio Calendar of Events – April 2016

As the weather starts to brighten up, make the most of it and take advantage of all of the great things that Central Ohio has to offer. Whether you’re looking for an afternoon of family-fun or an evening out with your significant other, Central Ohio has it all! Here are some fun events going on near you this month.

Gallery Hop

When: Saturday, April 2nd [1PM]

Where: Short North Arts District

What: On the first Saturday of each month, thousands of visitors converge on High Street in the Short North Arts District. Visitors celebrate art throughout the evening with new gallery exhibitions, street performers, special events, food, and drinks throughout the District.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. New York Rangers

When: Monday, April 4th [7PM]

Where: Nationwide Arena [200 W Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

Admission: $10-$250

What: The Columbus Blue Jackets take on the New York Rangers at Nationwide Arena on April 4th at 7pm.

Columbus Clippers vs. Indianapolis

When: Saturday, April 9th [2:15PM]

Where: Huntington Park [330 Huntington Park Ln, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: Come cheer on the Columbus Clippers, Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and enjoy breathtaking views of Huntington Park, one of the best ballparks in America.

Bruce Springsteen And The E-Street Band

When: Tuesday, April 12th [7PM-11PM]

Where: The Schottenstein Center [555 Borror Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43210]

Admission: $61-$156

What: The River Tour will extend its U.S. run with 14 new shows including April 12, 2016 at the Schottenstein Center. During each stop on the North American leg of The River Tour, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band give an in-sequence performance of the 20 songs from 1980’s The River. He previously had performed the album only once in its entirety, during a 2009 concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The current tour’s three-hour-plus sets also include such classics as “Rosalita”,”Dancing in the Dark”, “Thunder Road” and “Born to Run.” The River Tour, Springsteen’s first in two years, follows the December release of The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, a boxed set that contains the original The River album, along with outtakes, unreleased songs and a two-hour concert film from 1980.

10th Annual Short North Gala

What: You’re invited to celebrate and support the artistry, diversity, community, and spirit of the Short North Arts District in one deliciously unforgettable evening.

2016 OhioDance Festival & Conference

When: April 22nd – April 24th  [Friday 2-6PM. Saturday 9AM-10PM. Sunday 10AM-3PM]

Where: BalletMet Columbus [322 Mt. Vernon Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: OhioDance the statewide dance network organization, will co-sponsor its annual spring festival with BalletMet Columbus. The three-day weekend offers master classes, performances and professional development. Sessions will be held at the studios and performance space at BalletMet, Columbus. The theme of the conference Dance Matters: Paving Possibilities incorporates the idea that teachers, choreographers and professionals pave the path for future generations. OhioDance will celebrate its’ 40 year anniversary with a special celebration.

Capital City Half Marathon

When: Saturday, April 30th

Where: Starts At Scioto Mile

Admission: $60-$110

What: The Annual OhioHealth Capital City Half Marathon will take runners and walkers on “the best tour of Columbus on two feet.” The race features three races: the Capital City Half Marathon, the Quarter Marathon and the Commit To Be Fit 5K.
