Central Ohio Calendar of Events – May 2016

Central Ohio has so much to offer to residents and visitors alike this month. Whether you’re looking for an adventurous way to do something new, or an annual spring event, you will never be disappointed! Here are some events near you that you can take advantage of this month.

Downtown Live

When: May 1st – July 28th [Every Thursday 12-530PM]

Where: Columbus Commons [150 S Front St, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: The Columbus Downtown Development Corporation will feature live, local music, food trucks and spirits. Fan-favorite local bands will rock the Columbus Commons every Thursday in July, including popular groups like The Floorwalkers, Mojoflo, Angela Perley & the Howlin’ Moons, Conspiracy and Popgun.

8th Annual Columbus Craftacular

When: Saturday, May 7th [10AM-4PM]

Where: The Whetstone Community Center [3923 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214]

What: Eco-friendly, revamped, recycled, homegrown and handcrafted are just a few ways to describe some of the products that will be available at the 8th Annual Columbus Handmade Craftacular, one of the longest-running indie craft shows in Columbus. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., with vendors inside the Whetstone Community Center in Clintonville, a neighborhood in north-central Columbus. More than 70 artists, crafters and other vendors will participate in the one-day, juried craft show that celebrates eco-friendly and locally made products. Clothing, accessories, jewelry, ceramics, bath products, children’s items, home goods and more will be available at the event. The Craftacular offers a unique chance to meet and mingle with the artists who make these one-of-a-kind items and to support local, small craft businesses. This family-friendly event also features arts activities, games, music, food trucks, a raffle and more! Shop early! Swag bags will be awarded to the first 50 shoppers the morning of the event with items donated by the Craftacular’s awesome artists. Support a local pet charity! Funds from the raffle support a local charity each year. All raffle items are donated by participating artists and vendors. Admission is FREE and open to the public.

Columbus Clippers VS. Lehigh Valley

When: Saturday, May 9th [1:35PM]

Where: Huntington Park [330 Huntington Park Ln, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: Come cheer on the Columbus Clippers, Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and enjoy breathtaking views of Huntington Park, one of the best ballparks in America.

Columbus Craft Beer Week

When: May 13th – May 21st

Where: Locations Throughout Columbus

What: Columbus Craft Beer Week showcases the talented breweries, beer bars and restaurants of Columbus through nine days of beer-centric events at venues all across the city. The week’s events include everything from food and beer pairings, beer dinners, limited edition or specialty beer releases, tap takeovers, meet the brewer opportunities, and educational sessions on topics from beer styles to home-brewing.

Columbus Race For The Cure

When: Saturday, May 14th [9AM-12PM]

Where: Komen Columbus [1 Capital Square, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Series is the world’s largest and most successful fundraising and education event for breast cancer ever created. Your participation in this event helps us provide significant funds and bring awareness about breast cancer to our local community. Whether you walk, run, volunteer or donate, your support is helping us save lives and provide priceless support to those in need. Not a runner? No problem! You can participate by walking our 5K or Family Fun Walk course or just relax by the finish line and cheer for the finishers.

Rock on the Range

When: May 20th – May 22ndth

Where: MAPFRE Stadium [1 Black & Gold Blvd, Columbus, OH 43211]

What: The nation’s biggest and most acclaimed active three-day rock festival returns to Columbus for its ninth year. More than 105,000 die-hard fans attended last year, traveling from all 50 states throughout the globe.

The Memorial Tournament

When: May 30th – June 5th [Monday-Sunday 7AM-6PM]

Where: [5750 Memorial Drive, Dublin, OH 43017]

What: The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide is a premier event on the PGA TOUR held annually at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. The Tournament, founded and hosted by Jack Nicklaus, is conducted each year with three goals in mind: to honor those who have distinguished themselves in the game of golf; to showcase the world’s best golfers competing on one of the most challenging venues in the world for the enjoyment of spectators; and to benefit many greater Columbus charities in alliance with the Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Foundation, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and numerous other local organizations.
