Central Ohio Calendar of Events – July 2016

There are a ton of things going on in and around Central Ohio this month. It’s the summertime, so embrace it with all of the outdoor activities that you can possibly handle. Here are some events going on near you this month.

 

Red, White & Boom

Picnic With The Pops: Patriotic Pops & Fireworks

When: Saturday, July 2nd

Where: Columbus Commons [160 S High St, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: Columbus’ grand summer tradition continues as the Columbus Symphony celebrates the Fourth of July. Wave the flag, clap your hands, and stomp your feet to patriotic favorites and rousing Sousa marches including “The Stars and Stripes Forever” and other favorites. The evening is topped off with a brilliant fireworks display.

Columbus Clippers vs. Toledo

When: Monday, July 4th [7:05PM]

Where: Huntington Park [330 Huntington Park Lane, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: Come cheer on the Columbus Clippers, Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and enjoy breathtaking views of Huntington Park, one of the best ballparks in America.

New Albany Independence Day 5K

When: Monday, July 4th [8AM-9:30AM]

Where: Market Square [Market Street, New Albany, OH 43054]

What: 5K Run/Walk, Kids Crawl, and Kids FUN Run benefiting the New Albany Symphony Orchestra and local nonprofit performing arts groups. The run is followed by the New Albany Fourth of July Parade.

Columbus Crew vs. Toronto

When: Wednesday, July 13th [7:30PM]

Where: Columbus Crew Stadium [One Black and Gold Blvd, Columbus, OH 43211]

Admission: $24-$57

What: Join the raucous crowd to cheer on the Crew SC and see why Columbus has become internationally recognized as a soccer haven in the United States.

Nightlight 614: Mean Girls

When: Thursday, July 14th [7:30PM]

Where: Genoa Park [303 W Broad St, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: NightLight 614 is a 21+ social outdoor film series featuring the best of cinema along with some of Columbus’s Best local food trucks and Ohio’s best breweries & wineries — all backed by the beautiful Columbus cityscape! Think of it as a picnic at night to watch a movie with a ton of friends plus beer, wine, food, live music and the best view in Columbus.

Promowest Fest

When: Friday, July 15th – Sunday, July 17th

Where: Arena District [375 N Front Ste 200, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: PromoWest Productions has officially announced its plans for the PromoWest Fest, a three day, three stage music festival taking place July 15th-17th in the Arena District. The festival will feature over 40 local, regional, and national acts such as Milky Chance, Snoop Dogg, Walk the Moon, Forest & The Evergreens, LL Cool J, and Lindsey Stirling. The PromoWest Fest is set to host 20,000 attendees stretching from McFerson Park where the first stage will be located, to Spring Street which will be closed off for vending and concessions stands, all the way to North Bank Park, though the first stage will not shut down Nationwide Blvd.

Jazz & Rib Fest

When: Friday, July 22nd – Sunday, July 24th [Fri/Sat 11AM-11PM, Sun 11AM-830PM]

What: Celebrate summer with hot ribs and cool jazz! Three stages will host the finest local, regional and international jazz artists, while barbeque pit masters serve up sizzling ribs, chicken and more. Savor the best ribs from around the country as 23 award-winning barbeque teams compete for “Best Ribs” bragging rights.
