Central Ohio Calendar of Events – August 2016

As summertime is coming to an end here in Central Ohio, so are some of summer’s greatest events. Make sure you make the most of your last month of summer by enjoying some of the great things going on in Central Ohio. Here are some events going on in our area this month.


Columbus Clippers vs. Indianapolis

When: Monday, August 1st [7:05PM]

Where: Huntington Park [330 Huntington Park Ln, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: Come cheer on the Columbus Clippers, Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and enjoy breathtaking views of Huntington Park, one of the best ballparks in America.

Nightlight 614: The Goonies

When: Thursday, August 4th [7:30PM]

Where: Genoa Park [303 W Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: NightLight 614 is a 21+ social outdoor film series featuring the best of cinema along with some of Columbus’s Best local food trucks and Ohio’s best breweries & wineries — all backed by the beautiful Columbus cityscape! Think of it as a picnic at night to watch a movie with a ton of friends plus beer, wine, food, live music and the best view in Columbus.

Dublin Irish Festival

When: Friday, August 5th – Sunday, August 7th [Friday 4PM-12PM, Saturday 11AM-12PM, Sunday 11AM-9PM]

Where: Dublin Convention & Visitors Bureau [5600 Post Road, Dublin, OH 43017]

Admission: $8-$12

What: Irish attitude is all you need to experience the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio, USA. For more than 28 years, the first weekend in August has been reserved for what is now the world’s second largest Irish celebration. More than 100,000+ guests are expected this year.

Columbus Summer Beerfest

When: Friday, August 5th – Saturday August 6th [630PM-11PM]

Where: EXPRESS LIVE! [405 Neil Ave, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: $20-$60

What: Beer here! The 7th annual Columbus Summer Beerfest will take place Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6 at Express Live. The event will feature over 350 craft beers from more than 100 breweries from down the street and around the country. The event will also feature live local music and plenty of food truck favorites. Over 8,000 people attended the Columbus Summer Beerfest last year, making it the largest Summer craft beer event in Columbus. Tickets are available at columbusbeerfest.com

Columbus Food Truck Festival

When: Friday, August 12th – Sunday, August 14th

Where: Columbus Commons [160 S High Street, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: Free

What: The Columbus Food Truck Festival is a three-day event featuring over 70 of the best Food Trucks in Ohio, entertainment, live music arts & crafts and family fun for all ages.

Columbus Beer Run

When: Saturday, August 20th [11AM-5PM]

Where: Land Grant Brewing Co. [424 W Town St, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: 1. Beer: It’s about rewarding yourself with delicious craft beer. Columbus has been rated in the top 5 craft beer cities in the country;this is your opportunity to try new beers or fall in love with old favorites. 2. Fitness: It’s not about being the fastest, strongest, or most competitive. It’s about being comfortable with who you are while being active. Whether this is your first race or you have a room full of running medals, this event is for you! Walk, skip, jog, or run up to 4 laps for a total of about 2 miles. Go at your own pace and enjoy being active in historic Franklinton. 3. Fun: It’s a party; it’s a celebration! This is your chance to be silly, to wear a costume and parade around with friends, both old and new. Enjoy music, dancing, games, contests, and the best group of people you’ll ever meet. Your feet will not be the only things taking a tour, your taste buds will go through a journey as well. After each lap of our historic, flat course, you’ll be treated to a different craft beer sample. After you complete the final lap, you’ll be rewarded with a full serving of your favorite craft beer while you dance the afternoon away during our official after party. Enjoy food trucks, drinking games, and fun contests…and of course, more beer! Aside from positive endorphins from the run, a slight buzz from the beer, and new best friends from the party, every participant will receive craft beer, an official Columbus Beer Run T-Shirt, and an entry to the Columbus Beer Run after party featuring music, dancing, contests, and fun. All participants must be at least 21 years of age on the day of the event. Don’t drink and drive; ride shares and taxis will be available. You’re already a champion, now you deserve some beer!

Clintonville Quest

When: Saturday, August 20th [1PM-430PM]

Where: Calumet & Tulane, Columbus, OH 43202

Admission: $10-$25

What: Think scavenger hunt meets the Amazing Race! Teams will compete to decipher clues, locate various checkpoints around Clintonville, and complete crazy challenges before racing to the finish line! All proceeds go to the CRC (Clintonville Beechwold Community Resource Center). This year’s Quest is on Saturday, August 20th at 1pm. This is a family-friendly event with fun for all ages! Families with children will especially enjoy the Quest Mini division that covers up to 3 miles and is walkable. Those looking for a bigger challenge will love the traditional Clintonville Quest covering between 6 – 8 miles. Teams can have up to 4 people.

Breakaway Music Festival

When: Friday, August 26th – Saturday, August 27th [5PM-11PM]

Where: Ohio Expo Center [7171 E 17th Ave, Columbus, OH 43211]

Admission: $40-$50

What: Music lovers will congregate in the over one million square feet of dancing space to welcome Ohio’s premiere music festival into its expansive new home. In the past, Breakaway boasted top-tier talent that have continued to be titans of the industry: Bassnectar, Kendrick Lamar, Porter Robinson, Twenty One Pilots, Juicy J, to name a few. This years lineup will stand out amongst the rest as it features exciting artists of the Electronic platform and as well as Hip-Hop superstars.
