Central Ohio Calendar of Events – October 2016

As the temperature begins to cool down in Central Ohio, the events are heating up! Whether you are looking for a family-friendly activity, or looking for something to do with the girls, you will sure be able to find it here in the area. Here is what is happening in Central Ohio this month:

Freeman’s Farm Fall Festival

When: October 1st – October 30th

Where: Freeman’s Farm [6142 Lewis Center Road, Galena, OH 43021]

Admission: Free

What: Fun for the whole family! With the aroma of apple butter a stirrin’ and kettle corn a poppin’, Freeman’s Farm visitors enjoy hayrides through scenic woods, campfire concessions (hotdogs, chili, chips, beverages), a farm animals petting area, delicious fresh popped kettle corn, scarecrow making, and apple butter making demonstrations over an open fire on select days. Fall treats and decorations include pumpkins, fall squash, gourds, decorations, jelly, jams, apple butter, candy, apples, cider and fall gifts. Admission is free. There is a charge for food, some activities, and items purchased in the fall market. Festival hours will be Saturdays (10 AM – 5 PM) and Sundays (11 AM – 5 PM) starting September 24/25 and ending October 29/30. The Market only will be open Monday-Friday (12 PM – 7 PM) to purchase fall items. There are no COTA Day activities or activities during weekday hours.

Columbus Italian Festival

When: Friday, October 7th – Sunday, October 9th [Friday 5-11PM, Saturday 12-11PM, Sunday 11AM-7PM]

Admission: $5 (Children 12 and under are free)

What: The Columbus Italian Festival is an annual festival and has something for everyone! You’ll find live entertainment, Italian dancing, and lots of great food. There’s also a great kid’s area and market areas.

Country in the Capital

When: Friday, October 7th [6PM]

Where: Express LIVE! [405 Neil Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: $29.50 Advance & Day of Show | $92 VIP Tickets

What: WCOL Presents Country in the Capital Starring Kip Moore. Doors open at 6:00 PM. This show is outdoors – Rain or Shine! Fashion Week Columbus

What: Fashion Week Columbus takes place throughout Columbus Oct. 9-15 where you’ll see runway couture from our best local designers, meet the fashion cognoscenti and shop for your next look to make heads turn at this full week of events and shows.

8th Annual Taste of Bexley

What: Taste of Bexley is a unique event highlighting the best food in Bexley and in Columbus. The 8th Annual Taste of Bexley is held at the Franklin Park Conservatory which provides a beautiful setting for a fun filled evening of food from over 25 area restaurants and caterers, live entertainment by the Capital Jazz Consort, Capitones, Bill Bendler and Dave Sky Adult Watercolor Flower Painting by Art with Anna, Kid’s Corner by Piccadilly, Buck I Guy, green screen, Mini Chair Massages by Touch Therapy and more! Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Bruins

Columbus Marathon

When: Sunday, October 16th

Where: Columbus Marathon Inc. [200 W Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: The Columbus Marathon was first run in 1980 with 2,500 participants. There is also a Columbus Half Marathon for those who prefer a slightly shorter race.

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Washington Wizards

When: Tuesday, October 18th [7PM]

Where: Value City Arena [555 Borror Drive, Columbus, OH 43210]

Admission: $25-$100

What: The 2016 NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers will begin their 2016-17 season preparation with six preseason games featuring three home contests at Quicken Loans Arena, two games on the road vs. Atlanta and Chicago, and a “home” game in Columbus taking on the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, October 18 at The Schottenstein Center on the campus of The Ohio State University. Boo at the Zoo

Highball Halloween

What: HighBall is the nation’s fiercest costume party. Staged in the fashion capital of Columbus, this yearly event for the Halloween season bridges runway style with the culture of the Short North Arts District. Kellogg’s Tour of The Gymnastics Champions

When: Saturday, October 22nd [7PM]

Where: Nationwide Arena [200 W. Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: Three-time World all-around champion Simone Biles of Spring, Texas/World Champion Centre, 2012 Olympic team and all-around champion Gabby Douglas of Virginia Beach, Va./Buckeye Gymnastics, 2012 Olympic team and floor exercise champion Aly Raisman of Needham, Mass./Brestyan’s American Gymnastics, 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin and 2012 Olympic team gold-medalist Jordyn Wieber headline the 2016 Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions cast along with members of the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Teams. The 2016 Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions will visit 36 U.S. cities including Columbus’ Nationwide Arena on Saturday, October 22, 2016. A limited number of VIP packages are available that include a pre-show Chalk Talk, led by Liukin, along with select members of the 2016 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team; seats in the first two rows; and a post-show autograph session. Halloween Pet Parade & Fall Festival

When: Sunday, October 23rd [12PM-4PM]

Where: Easton Town Center [160 Easton Town Center, Columbus, OH 43219]

What: The Halloween Pet Parade and Fall Festival is a fun, fall event that encourages participants to dress up their pets in festive Halloween costumes. The event, which is in its fifteenth year at Easton Town Center, will be held in Fenlon Square. Bring the entire family and get creative with your costumes! Our pet parade will kick off at 1:30 PM in front of Moochie & Co. Awards given include Most Creative, Scariest, Cutest, and Funniest Costumes.
