Central Ohio Calendar of Events – February 2017

It might be the shortest month of the year but that doesn’t mean that there is less to do! Whether you’re looking for weeknight activities to do with friends or weekend activities that will be fun for the whole family, you can find them in Central Ohio. Here are a few events going on near you this month.

 

The Little Mermaid

When: February 1st – February 5th

What: In a magical kingdom fathoms below, we meet Ariel, the little mermaid who is tired of flipping her fins and longs to be part of the fascinating world on dry land. AAA Great Vacations Travel Expo

When: February 3rd – February 5th [Friday 12PM-7PM, Saturday 10AM-7PM, Sunday 11AM-4PM]

Where: Greater Columbus Convention Center [400 N High Street, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: Travelers are advised to mark their calendars for the Great Vacations Travel EXPO, presented by AAA, which takes place Feb. 3-5, 2017, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Downtown Columbus. Columbus Blue Jackets Winter Park

When: February 3rd – February 26th

Where: McFerson Commons

Admission: $5

What: Columbus Blue Jackets Winter Park presented by Worthington Industries is a three-week long celebration of the winter season at McFerson Commons across the street from Nationwide Arena. The outdoor community rink is open throughout the month of February for public and private skating sessions and is equipped with bleacher seating, a skate rental tent and four heated locker rooms. Additionally, there will be a tall tubing hill towards the front of the park.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Canucks

When: Thursday, February 9th [7PM]

Where: Nationwide Arena [200 W Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: Come cheer on the Columbus Blue Jackets! The only National Hockey League franchise in Ohio, the Columbus Blue Jackets play at Nationwide Arena, located in the heart of the Arena District in downtown Columbus.

Westerville Bowl-A-Thon

What: Now registering for the 2017 Westerville Community Bowl-A-Thon! Through the combined efforts of the WESTERVILLE SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION, the WESTERVILLE EDUCATION FOUNDATION and the WESTERVILLE SYMPHONY, the Westerville Community Bowl-A-Thon is the largest Westerville fundraiser benefiting Westerville students. The three 501(c)3 organizations utilize the funds generated by the Bowl-A-Thon to fund scholarships to child and adult aged students, provide grants to educators and offer musical performances and programs to classrooms in Westerville. The event is produced by a dedicated volunteer committee of local business professionals and community advocates and through generous donations from local residents and businesses. All Dessert Food Tour

When: February 18th – April 22nd [Every Saturday 230PM-545PM]

Where: Schiller Park Rec Center [1069 Jaeger Street, Columbus, OH 43206]

What: Join us on this van-based tour featuring some of the best desserts in Columbus. This tour first visits new specialty bakery Bake Me Happy, where we’ll not only get to sample their sumptuous sweets but also get a behind-the-scenes look into their impressive production pastry kitchen. Then, its chocolate fit for a queen at Madame Delluc, at what is only the second US location for this prestigious Belgian chocolatier. Our next stop is Pattycake Bakery in Clintonville to learn about their whoopie pies, sticky buns and cookies. Of course, no dessert tour of Columbus would be complete without Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, so we will visit their Clintonville location to try some of their newest seasonal flavors. Finally, we’ll finish our food tour with a fabulous dessert cocktail created by mixologist extraordinaire Cris Dehlavi at M Restaurant (there will be a non-alcoholic drink option available for those under 21 or who do not wish to consume alcohol). The All Dessert Food Tour starts at 2.30pm on Saturdays and will last approximately 3 hours. The cost is $55 per person.
