Central Ohio Calendar of Events – July 2017

There are a ton of things going on in and around Central Ohio this month. It’s the summertime, so embrace it with all of the outdoor activities that you can possibly handle. Here are some events going on near you this month.

Red, White & Boom

Doo Dah Parade

When: Tuesday, July 4th at 1PM

Where: Downtown Columbus [Buttles & High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: The Doo Dah Parade in Columbus, Ohio, is a celebration of life, liberty and the pursuit of literary lunacy. The one-day satirical party features a one-of-a-kind parade filled with characters in costume, humorous political debates, satirists’ readings, a singing of the National Anthem, live music and a post parade block party.

New Albany Independence Day 5K

When: Monday, July 4th [8AM-9:30AM]

Where: Market Square [Market Street, New Albany, OH 43054]

What: 5K Run/Walk, Kids Crawl, and Kids FUN Run benefiting the New Albany Symphony Orchestra and local nonprofit performing arts groups. The run is followed by the New Albany Fourth of July Parade.

Creekside Live

When: Friday, July 14th [6PM-10PM]

Where: Creekside Park & Plaza [123 Mill Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230]

What: Creekside Live is a summer concert series with live entertainment headlined by popular bands from the Midwest. Bring your friends and coworkers to enjoy Creekside along with a variety of entertainment, food, and beverage sales for adults in the Central Ohio Area on select Friday evenings during the summer. Event is supported by the Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation along with local organizations.

Jazz & Rib Fest

When: Friday, July 21st – Sunday, July 23rd [11AM-830PM]

Where: Scioto Mile [233 S Civic Center Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: This highly anticipated summertime tradition in downtown Columbus offers both jazz and rib connoisseurs the finest in music and barbeque. Located along the Scioto River, the festival offers three days of continuous jazz by renowned international and local musicians while barbeque pit masters serve up sizzling ribs, chicken and more. Savor the best ribs from around the country as 23 award-winning barbeque teams compete for Best Ribs bragging rights.

Ohio State Fair

When: Wednesday, July 26th – Sunday, August 6th [9AM -10PM]

Where: Ohio Expo Center [717 E 17th Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43211]

Admission: $10

What: Get ready for the 164th Ohio State Fair, July 26 – Aug. 6! Enjoy a variety of activities and exhibits including interactive educational displays, sporting competitions, a fine arts show, free stages with amazing hypnotists, impressive magicians and wholesome kids’ entertainment, exotic animals in the free petting zoo, a farm animal delivery room, helicopter rides, roving performers, youth agricultural competitions, horse shows, an eight acre natural resources park with free kiddie fishing, wildlife and much more! The Midway features more than 60 exhilarating rides sure to excite you, while Kiddieland is home to rides geared toward parents riding with small children. You won’t be able to resist all your favorite Fair goodies from any of the nearly 200 food vendors.

The OSU Marching Band

When: Friday, July 28th [8PM]

Where: Columbus Commons [160 S High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: Don the scarlet and gray and celebrate the coming season’s gridiron clash with the Columbus Symphony and “The Pride of the Buckeyes.” Don’t miss the biggest tailgate party of the year with “The Best Damn Band in the Land” and fireworks!
