Central Ohio Calendar of Events – August 2017

As summertime is coming to an end here in Central Ohio, so are some of summer’s greatest events. Make sure you make the most of your last month of summer by enjoying some of the great things going on in Central Ohio. Here are some events going on in our area this month.

 

Ohio State Fair

When: Tuesday, August 1st – Tuesday, August 8th [9AM – 10PM]

Where: Ohio Expo Center [717 E, 17th Ave, Columbus, OH 4321]

What: Get ready for the 164th Ohio State Fair! Enjoy a variety of activities and exhibits including interactive educational displays, sporting competitions, a fine arts show, free stages with amazing hypnotists, impressive magicians and wholesome kids’ entertainment, exotic animals in the free petting zoo, a farm animal delivery room, helicopter rides, roving performers, youth agricultural competitions, horse shows, an eight acre natural resources park with free kiddie fishing, wildlife and much more! The Midway features more than 60 exhilarating rides sure to excite you, while Kiddieland is home to rides geared toward parents riding with small children. You won’t be able to resist all your favorite Fair goodies from any of the nearly 200 food vendors.

Dublin Irish Festival

When: Friday, August 4th – Sunday, August 6th

Where: 5200 Emerald Parkway, Dublin, OH 43017

What: Irish attitude is all you need to experience the Dublin Irish Festival in Dublin, Ohio, USA. For 30 years, the first weekend in August has been reserved for what is now the largest three-day Irish Festival on the planet. More than 100,000 guests are expected to attend. With 7 stages, 65 acts and more than 535 performers, there is something for everyone.

COSI After Dark – Throwback Thursday

When: Thursday, August 10th [530PM – 1030PM]

Where: COSI [333 W. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: Member – $10, Nonmember – $14 in advance, $16 at door

What: Geek out with grown-ups and explore COSI, ride the High Wire Unicycle, enjoy special themed activities, concessions and a cash bar. 21 and over only.

Dogfest Walk N’ Roll Columbus

When: Saturday, August 12th [9AM – 11AM]

Where: Market Square [Market Street, New Albany, OH 43054]

What: Grab a leash and be part of Canine Companions DogFest Walk ‘n Roll! It’s a community dog walk that supports the mission of Canine Companions for Independence. Put together a team of friends, family members and coworkers to raise funds to earn cool DogFest prizes. Join us for a tail-waggin’ good time!

Columbus Food Truck Festival

When: Friday, August 18th – Saturday, August 19th [11AM – 11PM]

Where: Bicentennial Park [233 Civic Center Dr, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: Free

What: The 7th Annual Columbus Food Truck Festival on the Scioto Mile & Bicentennial Park. The Midwest’s largest food truck festival will take over Bicentennial Park, Scioto Mile and the Rich Street Bridge! This is a two-day event featuring over 50-60 of the best food trucks from Ohio and surrounding areas. The festival will feature live music on the Bicentennial Park Stage and our Second Stage located on Washington street on the West side of the river along with family fun for all ages. The foodie feast begins Friday and continues through Saturday evening with great food, live music and special events.

Columbus Gin & Vodka Festival

When: Saturday, August 19th [4PM – 10PM]

Where: Columbus Convention Center [400 N High Street, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: $20-$65

What: The Columbus Gin and Vodka Festival is a chance to discover, taste, and enjoy the best Gins and Vodkas the world has to offer. With over 100 different types of Gins and Vodkas from some of the most prominent and cherished brands around the world, we are sure to satisfy all tastes, from the occasional cocktail drinker to the avid connoisseur. Prepare to be enthralled!

WAG! A Dog Friendly Festival

When: Saturday, August 19th [10AM – 4PM]

Where: Prairie Oaks Metro Park [2755 Amity Road, Hilliard, Ohio]

Admission: Free

What: WAG! is the perfect day’s adventure for dogs and their people. There are trails to wander and lakes to splash in, where the route to activities leads past appealing booths where you can stop, shop and learn from the area’s best dog-related product and service providers. It’s FREE, fun, and family-friendly. So, grab your BFF (Best Furry Friend) and head to WAG! You’ll find a day full of activities and treats for the entire family…including Fido!

Columbus Summer Beerfest

When: Friday, August 25th – Saturday, August 26th [630PM – 11PM]

Where: Express LIVE! [405 Neil Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: $45 – $60 (Buy Tickets Here!)

What: Beer here! The 8th annual Columbus Summer Beerfest will take place Friday, August 25 and Saturday, August 26 at Express Live. The event will feature over 350 craft beers from more than 100 breweries from down the street and around the country. The event will also feature live local music and plenty of food truck favorites. Over 8,000 people attended the Columbus Summer Beerfest last year, making it the largest Summer craft beer event in Columbus. Tickets are available at columbusbeerfest.com
