Central Ohio Calendar of Events – October 2017

As the temperature begins to cool down in Central Ohio, the events are heating up! Whether you are looking for a family-friendly activity, or looking for a night out on the town, you will sure be able to find it here in the area. Here is what is happening in Central Ohio this month…

 

Ed Sheeran

When: Tuesday, October 3rd & Wednesday, October 4th [6PM-10PM]

Where: Nationwide Arena [200 W Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: $39.50 – $89.50

What: The tour celebrates Sheeran’s landmark third studio album, “÷.” The album – pronounced “divide” includes the universal hit singles, “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” both of which made incredible chart entries after their simultaneous January release. “Shape of You” debuted at #1 on Billboard’s “Hot 100’.

Columbus Architecture Tour

When: Saturday, October 7th [6PM]

Where: Greater Columbus Convention Center [400 N High St, Columbus, OH 43215]

Admission: $33-$36

What: Since its inception in 1812, the architecture of Central Ohio has faithfully represented and irreverently innovated upon the endless succession of building fashions that have swept across our nation. From Victorian, Art Deco, and Arts and Crafts, to Brutalism, Modernism, Deconstructionism, and more, Columbus’ wealth of architectural history makes it a prime destination for architecture enthusiasts of all levels. This 2 3/4 hour tour will focus on exploring the vast variety of styles found within the city, and highlights includes the largest neighborhood of Victorian Homes in the U.S., the largest privately preserved historical district in the U.S., and important works from architects such as Peter Eisenman, Arata Isozaki, to our home grown design firm Moody Nolan.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. NY Rangers

When: Friday, October 13th [7PM]

Where: Nationwide Arena [200 W Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, OH 43215]

What: Come cheer on your Columbus Blue Jackets! The only National Hockey League franchise in Ohio, the Columbus Blue Jackets play at Nationwide Arena, located in the heart of the Arena District in downtown Columbus.

Columbus Marathon

When: Sunday, October 15th [730AM]

What: Presented by Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The Columbus Marathon was first run in 1980 with 2,500 participants. There is also a Columbus Half Marathon for those who prefer a slightly shorter race.

Kings of Leon

What: On the heels of a #1 album, a chart-topping radio hit, a sold out first leg of a global tour which begins its second leg this Friday, Kings of Leon announces that they will be adding a new fall leg of their WALLS tour that will travel to all new North American cities, including Columbus, OH, with a stop at The Schottenstein Center on Friday, October 20!

HighBall Halloween

What: HighBall is the nation’s fiercest costume party. Staged in the fashion capital of Columbus, this yearly event for the Halloween season bridges runway style with the culture of the Short North Arts District. Boo At The Zoo

When: Friday, October 20th – Saturday, October 28th  [Friday 5PM-9PM, Saturday 10AM-9PM, Sunday, 10AM – 8PM]

Where: Columbus Zoo & Aquarium [4850 W Powell Road, Powell, OH 43065]

What: Join us at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for this “merry-not-scary” Halloween tradition of heroic proportions! Meet the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman and Wonder Woman, plus visit Frogwortz, Pumpkin Junction, treat stations and more!

Creepside Festival

When: Saturday, October 21st [11AM-3PM]

Where: Creekside Park & Plaza [123 Mill Street, Gahanna, OH 43230]

What: Put on your costumes, dress up the kids, and join us for the 14th Annual Creepside Festival. This event is free and appropriate for all ages. Event highlights include: live music, games, activities, haunted trail, trick or treat with local organizations, and plenty of candy.
