Central Ohio Calendar of Events – May 2018

Central Ohio has so much to offer to residents and visitors alike this month. Whether you’re looking for an adventurous way to do something new, or an annual spring event, you won’t be disappointed! Here are some events near you that you can take advantage of this month.


Chris Young – Losing Sleep World Tour

When: Thursday, May 3rd [730PM]

Where: Schottenstein Center [555 Borror Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43210]

What: Following his induction into the Grand Ole Opry and the release of acclaimed seventh album, Losing Sleep, 2017 has undoubtedly been a career-defining year for Chris Young. 2018 is teeing up to be another banner year.  The 32-year old neo-traditionalist will bring his “Chris Young Losing Sleep 2018 World Tour” to the Schottenstein Center on Thursday, May 3, 2018 featuring special guests Kane Brown, Morgan Evans and Dee Jay Silver.

Dorothy & The Prince of Oz

When: Friday, May 4th – Sunday, May 6th

Where: Ohio Theatre [39 East State Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

Admission: $29 – $93

What: Meet Dorothy, Glinda, and Scarecrow on the yellow brick road as they make their heroic return to save the Land of Oz.  Racing against the clock, Dorothy must rescue the Prince from warring kingdoms before tragedy strikes as set forth by the vision given to Glinda by the Book of Knowledge.  The Columbus Premiere of Dorothy and the Prince of Oz features stunning puppetry and scenery by Basil Twist, a score arranged by Oliver Peter Graber, and original choreography by BalletMet’s Artistic Director, Edwaard Liang.  Come click your heels and return home with BalletMet and the sounds of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra May 4-6, 2018 at the Ohio Theatre.

Justin Timberlake

When: Monday, May 7th [730PM]

Where: Nationwide Arena [200 W Nationwide Blvd, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: Global superstar Justin Timberlake announced that he will make his highly anticipated return to the stage with The Man Of The Woods Tour. The North American outing will kick off in Toronto and includes a May 7 stop at Nationwide Arena.

Columbus Craft Beer Week

When: May 11th – May 19th

Where: All Over Columbus!

What: Columbus Craft Beer Week showcases the talented breweries, beer bars and restaurants of Columbus through nine days of beer-centric events at venues all across the city. The week’s events include everything from food and beer pairings, beer dinners, limited edition or specialty beer releases, tap takeovers, meet the brewer opportunities, and educational sessions on topics from beer styles to home-brewing.

CCAD Fashion Show

When: Friday, May 11th [7PM-9PM]

Where: Greater Columbus Convention Center [400 N High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: The hottest runway event in town now has a new home. The 2018 CCAD Fashion Show will take place at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. See and be seen as top student designers at Columbus College of Art & Design showcase their latest looks in this annual fashion show.

Rock On The Range

When: May 18th – May 20th

Where: MAPFRE Stadium [1 Black and Gold Blvd, Columbus, OH 43211]

What: The nation’s biggest and most-acclaimed, active three-day rock festival will be held May 18-20 at MAPFRE Stadium.

Komen Columbus Race For The Cure

When: Saturday, May 19th [7AM-11AM]

Where: Downtown Columbus [Columbus, Ohio 43205]

What: Join us for the largest Race for the Cure event in the country as we come together to celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors while raising funds to find the cures. Your registration and fundraising can save women’s lives.

Asian Festival

When: May 26th & May 27th [Saturday 10AM-8PM | Sunday 10AM-6PM]

Where: Franklin Park Conservatory [1777 E Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43203]

What: Columbus’ significant Asian heritage is on display at the beautifully manicured Franklin Park every Memorial Day weekend. With food, dance, sports and music from across Asia, this festival is a great way to kick off summer.

The Memorial Tournament

When: May 28th – June 3rd [Monday-Sunday 7AM-6PM]

Where: [5750 Memorial Drive, Dublin, OH 43017]

Admission: $35-$290

What: The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide is a premier event on the PGA TOUR held annually at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. The Tournament, founded and hosted by Jack Nicklaus, is conducted each year with three goals in mind: to honor those who have distinguished themselves in the game of golf; to showcase the world’s best golfers competing on one of the most challenging venues in the world for the enjoyment of spectators; and to benefit many greater Columbus charities in alliance with the Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Foundation, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and numerous other local organizations.
