Things to do in Central Ohio – May 2019

Central Ohio has so much to offer to residents and visitors alike this month. Whether you’re looking for an adventurous way to do something new, or an annual spring event, you won’t be disappointed! Here are some events near you that you can take advantage of this month.

COSI Science Festival

When: Wednesday, May 1rd – Saturday, May 4th [Recurring Daily]

Where: COSI [333 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215]

Admission: FREE

What: The 2019 COSI Science Festival culminates in an exciting and fun celebration of science along the Peninsula surrounding COSI, including Washington Blvd., Genoa Park, Town St., and Dorrian Green Park! This FREE event is something you won’t want to miss – with dynamic experiments, incredible demonstrations, and engaging hands-on activities hosted by Franklin County’s own science, technology, engineering and mathematics focused organizations, the Big Science Celebration is sure to provide entertainment and learning opportunities for the whole family.

This is your opportunity to touch a brain, build a marshmallow catapult, turn bananas into a piano, drive an underwater robot, talk to NASA researchers, see a ‘volcano’ explode, and MUCH more!

May Gallery Hop

When: Saturday, May 4th [4PM-10PM]

Where: Short North Arts District [North High Street from Nationwide Blvd. to 7th Ave., Columbus OH 43201]

Admission: Free

What: On Gallery Hop Saturday, thousands of visitors converge on High Street in the Short North Arts District. Visitors celebrate art throughout the evening with new gallery exhibitions, street performers, special events, food, and drinks throughout the District on the first Saturday of each month. With dozens of galleries and non-traditional exhibit spaces, it’s Columbus’ favorite night of the month to celebrate art. Though many shops and galleries are open earlier, Gallery Hop officially starts at 4:00pm and runs to 10:00pm, with restaurants and bars staying open considerably later.

Alan Jackson

When: Friday, May 10th [730PM – 11PM]

Where: The Schottenstein Center [555 Borror Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43210]

What: Jackson’s repertoire stands the test of time; impacting a field of artists who cite Jackson’s influence.  These same songs – many written by Alan – have earned him a place alongside country music’s greatest names and cemented his place in its history with membership in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Fans will hear the songs they love including his debut hit “Here in The Real World”…signature songs such as “Chattahoochee,” “Drive” and “Gone Country”…party anthems “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” and “Good Time”…and many more. William Michael Morgan will open as special guest.

P!NK: Beautiful Trauma World Tour

When: Saturday, May 11th [8PM]

Where: Value City Arena in The Schottenstein Center [555 Borror Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43210]

What: The Beautiful Trauma World Tour is the current seventh concert tour by American singer Pink, in support of her seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma. The tour began in Phoenix on March 1, 2018, and is scheduled to end on November 2.

Columbus Margarita Fest

When: Saturday, May 11th [12PM-8PM]

Where: Columbus Commons [160 S. Front St, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: Come celebrate in style at the 2019 Columbus Margarita Fest! This outdoor event will feature taco trucks, live music, and more margaritas than you’ll know what to do with. Tickets are all-inclusive and provide entrance plus five margaritas. No VIPs at this party! This event will sell out early like last year so make a plan and grab tickets before they’re gone. Rain or shine, this party is happening. We’ll post more details as we confirm specific food trucks and features. 21+ ONLY. No Children. No Pets.

Columbus Taco Fest

When: Saturday, May 18th

Where: Genoa Park [303 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215]

What: The 2nd Annual Columbus Taco Fest features the finest local taco trucks and restaurants. A fest to get closer to, discover, value, and celebrate the best of our city’s culinary creativity. Join us this spring for a whole day of Tacos, Tequila, Mexican Beer, and Live Entertainment!

Komen Columbus Race For The Cure

When: Saturday, May 18th [7AM-12PM]  

Where: Downtown Columbus [Columbus, Ohio 43205]

Admission: Sign-up as an Individual or with a Team

What: Join us for the largest Race for the Cure event in the country as we come together to celebrate and honor breast cancer survivors while raising funds to find the cures. Your registration and fundraising can save women’s lives.

5th Annual Easton Food Fest

When: May 17th to the 20th [Recurring Daily]

Where: Easton Town Center [160 Easton Town Center, Columbus, OH 43219]

What: Join us at Easton with all our Food Truck’s to get your grub on at over 15 delicious food truck options. Wash it all down with some beer poured by World of Beer. Come for lunch or dinner…or both! There will be live music throughout lunch and dinner hours. The Memorial Tournament

When: Monday, May 27th – Sunday, June 2nd [Monday-Sunday 7AM-6PM]

What: The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide is a premier event on the PGA TOUR held annually at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. The Tournament, founded and hosted by Jack Nicklaus, is conducted each year with three goals in mind: to honor those who have distinguished themselves in the game of golf; to showcase the world’s best golfers competing on one of the most challenging venues in the world for the enjoyment of spectators; and to benefit many greater Columbus charities in alliance with the Nicklaus Children’s Healthcare Foundation, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and numerous other local organizations.
