When you think Ohio, you probably aren’t envisioning it as the home of glamorous celebrities, respected astronauts, and former presidents. But you’ll actually find that quite a few familiar faces have called Ohio home!

From Grammy-wining singers to one of the most famous directors in the business, here are the most famous folks that call the Buckeye State home. See if you spot anyone from your county!

Delaware County

The 19th President of the United States, Rutherford B. Hayes was born just around the corner in Delaware, Ohio.

Runner-up: Jack Hanna, the Director Emeritus of the Columbus Zoo and the star of multiple wildlife television shows.

Richland County

Star of Beverly Hills, 90210 and a regular on Riverdale, the late Luke Perry was born in Mansfield. Although Perry passed earlier this year, his last role in the film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood can still be seen in theaters today.

Runner-up: Louis Bromfield, a Pulitzer-Prize winning and nationally renowned author who focused on conservation and scientific agriculture.

Lucas County

Known as an outspoken feminist, Gloria Steinem—born in Toledo—was the founder of Ms. magazine and was a regular contributor to New York magazine.

Runners-up: Actors Katie Holmes, Jamie Farr, and Danny Thomas, as well as football coaches Jim and John Harbaugh, and jazz legend Art Tatum.

Runners-up: Hamilton County is full of famous faces, including Presidents William Howard Taft, William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison, actress Doris Day, media mogul Ted Turner, and former Speaker of the House John Boehner.

Athens County

Known for her role in the HBO comedy Sex and the City, the four-time Golden Globe winner Sarah Jessica Parker found her home in Nelsonville.

The first man to step foot on the moon took his first steps in Wapakoneta. Neil Armstrong later returned to his Ohio roots, teaching at the University of Cincinnati before he passed away at the age of 82.

The King of Cool, a smooth crooner, and host of his own television, Dean Martin hailed from the cozy little town of Steubenville.
