A Weekender’s Guide to Columbus

When you live in Central Ohio, you’ll never run out of things to do—but what if you only have a weekend? We’re hitting just the highlights in our weekender’s guide to Columbus, so now is the time to start planning your trip!

Friday

Hotel bed in Columbus

Happy Friday! Now that your weekend getaway has begun, you’re probably looking forward to relaxing on a comfy bed and enjoying some of the best bites in Columbus. You’ll find some of the city’s best lodging at the Downtown Hilton—but there are also plenty of AirBnbs nearby, too.

After relaxing at your hotel of choice, it’s time to experience Cowtown’s thriving culinary scene. No matter how picky you are, it’s easy to fall in love with some of Downtown’s best restaurants—and there are plenty to choose from. Looking for recommendations? We love Milestone 229, Rodizio Grill, and M at Miranova.

If you have some extra time at the end of the day, you may want to take some time to enjoy the nightlife. Of course, there are plenty of bars and clubs, but if you prefer a quieter evening, you can’t beat strolling along the Scioto Mile.

Ready to uncover the best of Columbus? There’s a reason why locals call it the Discovery City—there truly is something new to see on every corner. If you’re not sure where to start, there are plenty of things to do and see right in the heart of Downtown.

The Center for Industry and Science (COSI), offers plenty of interactive exhibits for scientists of all ages. Feel free to trek through the museum’s grounds or take some time to explore—it’s a great place to take kids! Locals also love the Columbus Museum of Art, which features local examples of Impressionism, German Expressionism, and Cubism. Want to learn more about our nation’s armed forces? The National Veterans Memorial and Museum is another can’t-miss destination.

If you’ve worked up an appetite, it might be time for a quick bite to eat. Some of the best lunch spots around Columbus include Dirty Frank’s Hot Dog Palace, Katalina’s, and The Brown Bag. Not sure how to spend the rest of your day? You can’t go wrong with wandering around The Ohio State University or shopping at Lennox Town Center.

Sunday

Although Sunday might be your final day in Columbus, there’s still plenty of fun to be had. If you’re ready for a big adventure, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is one of Ohio’s top destinations. Best of all, it’s just a short drive away from Downtown and features over 7,000 animals!

If you’d rather take it easy before you leave, we recommend checking out the Kelton House Museum and Garden or experiencing a show at the Columbus Performing Arts Center. There’s always something exciting going on—and you might even snag tickets to a Broadway play!
